You must install WPM on a system running LinMin Bare Metal Provisioning 5.5.2-5, available for download from our web site.
Click on the link in the email you received from LinMin and download the file to:
/usr/local/linmin
cd /usr/local/linmin
sh LinMin_WPM_beta_20100330.exp
The date in the file name (in this example, "20100330") may be different. During the WPM installation, your LinMin Server will be stopped for a few seconds.
Ignore warnings issued for forensics purposes from the WPM installer as it probes for packages before installing them. These messages will not appear in the GA product.
Upon successful execution of the script, you will see a message similar to this one:
LinMin Bare Metal Provisioning service is running OK
End: LinMin Bare Metal Provisioning WPM installer package - 2010-03-30 11:51:15 - 11:52:08
... elapsed time: 0 hour(s) : 0 minute(s) : 53 second(s)
#
You have now installed WPM.
If WPM was corrupted during the download, you will see a message similar to this one:
LinMin Bare Metal Provisioning WPM failed to extract
INCOMPLETE: 2010-04-04 22:06:59 LinMin Bare Metal Provisioning WPM installation failed--
#
Note: the GUI's Help/About will not reflect that WPM was installed. After you create an Install Instance, use the GUI to create Role Templates and Roles. In doing so, you will see your Windows Server 2008 and/or Windows 7 Install Instances appear in the pull down menus just as Windows 2003/XP Install Instances do after executing "loadwindows", or as Linux ISOs appear after executing "loadlinux".
Should you need to upgrade your version of WPM, download the package to the same /usr/local/linmin directory
cd /usr/local/linmin
sh LinMin_WPM_upgrade_beta_20100410.exp
The already-installed version of WPM will be detected, and you will be asked for confirmation to proceed with the upgrade. During WPM upgrades, your LinMin Server will be stopped for a few seconds.
You have now upgraded WPM.
