License Keys and Licensing
- A license key file tied to the MAC address of the system on which the LinMin Server is installed is required in order to provision or image systems.
- The license key file will control how long the key may be used (e.g., for an evaluation period, or perpetually if licensed) as well as the number of unique MAC addresses of client systems that PXE boot to the LBMP PXE VLAN, whether they are being serviced by the LinMin Server for provisioning/imaging/rescue or not. We recommend/encourage the dual NIC configuration with a 10. private PXE VLAN, as this is the best method to control what Clients PXE boot on the LBMP PXE VLAN.
- Upgrading your existing installation of the LinMin Server will not impact the proper functioning of the license key. If not installed within 3-4 days of a key being sent to you, it will become invalid and you must request a replacement key.
- The first time a client system is provisioned or imaged, the new MAC address gets encrypted and recorded, and can subsequently be provisioned or imaged an infinite number of times.
- The LinMin Server is licensed on a per-client system basis, in increments of 100, 250, 500, 1000 and custom numbers of client systems (each with a unique MAC address.)
- Email support and updates for LinMin Server cost 20% of the initial license fee list price per year.
